Is Launchbox Android still crap? Ask for a friend

If i buy a license can i used on two Pc's?

I wish the android version had more of the visual flair that several big box themes provide. There seems to be a lack of themes overall.

Everything is great, it's just a pity that there is no option to ignore files, unfortunately it searches for additional files, e.g. in Sega Naomi, etc., which makes things messy and there is no benefit in deleting them from the list, as after an automatic or manual update, the files return to the list 😭

Would love to see Launchbox come to iOS/iPadOS now that Apple allows it :)

I love the amount of features and options Launchbox has, but I can never get to grips with the UI or themes of it sadly in comparison to something as clean as EmulationStation. Come back to it several times over the last couple of years and have even tried to persevere with licences for both Windows and Android, it just never clicks for me. I think if your amazing team took a look at the layout and simplicity of the UI implemented in ES for all platforms including Android (there's a reason 99% of UA-camrs use ES with Art Book Next as their UI in review videos), and then added in the breadth of options you have in LB in comparison, you'd have the perfect hybrid. Until then sadly I'm just happier using ES as a front end and it being pretty good at finding your emulators and Android games now anyway.

First to comment. Launchbox Windows rules. The android ver needs as much love as it can get. I would absolutely love it if Launchbox auto downloaded the most optimized emulator for the hardware. So for example I'd like to see it reach out for MMJ versions if you're using underpowered hardware.

Is there a tutorial for how to set it? I've tried and it failed. Please do it if there isn't.

I just bought the permanent licence because I use launchbox for so many years and I love it. But the update broke a lot of things. First : scraping the roms by default added a lot of false games (saves and nfo files) that I had a hard time to remove since I can't organise my games by file type Then, many games that I added by hand for years are no longer recognized because there are some characters before or after the title (like v1.1 or [Trad FR]). There may also have some space problemes occuring (- or _). These two problems could easily be settled by a trim / regexp treatment. If you fear to generate errors, just ask the user (semi auto). Finaly, there are close cases with typos. Please use Levenshtein distance, its implemented in sql, it's fast, and again : semi auto the process with a user validation

I didn't turn this feature on. But ever since the last LB update, it's adding adding from platforms that I'd don't want to play. I delete them, but ever time I relaunch LB, they are reinstalled. And they are not in my roms folder. I've had it.

I did this manually before big box had the shell option. I think I used a script. Gotta do some maintenance on the unit now and then can't remember exactly what I did. Any ideas?

Hi brad! Thank you for sharing this information with us, I am new to launchbox but have experience with retroarch, I am having a issue trying to load a game in retroarch from using retropass, when I click on a game in retropass, nothing pops up, any suggestions why this happens? Thanks again man!

Ever since this update launching from launcbox to bigbox and vice versa has been totally broken. Keep getting an error message saying that I dont have write access permissions to the launchbox folder, when i absoluitely do. Was working just fine before this update. Edit: When i launch directy to launchbox or bigbox it works fine. its only when i try to switch directly from desktop launchbox to bigbox. I guess i'll just steer clear of that for now

Why should I download emulators and bios. We need them already with launchbox. I'm waiting for a great update from launchbox

How do you get the videos for each game, there’s the startup video for each platform then when you click on a platform the game list appears in wheel view and it shows yours games but there’s no video “trailer” of the game playing how do you fix this

I remember being a devout HyperSpin user and hearing about LaunchBox when it was first released. The idea of fuzzy matching and one click importing was mind blowing compared to the nightmare that was setting up HyperSpin. I was really skeptical, though, because there had been a slew of false start front ends promising to simplify the process. All these years later, LaunchBox still stands having delivered on all its promises and still delivering.

Does the software now automatically remove games from its library if they were uninstalled/removed through other platforms like Steam? That was my only pet leave when library gets big and you uninstall games… they still show up in LaunchBox library.

There hasn't been a single time I've regretted buying the lifetime licence. Now I'm feeling like going on a Lucas Arts binge. I have my own version of The Game, in which I have to announce whenever I'm thinking of Full Throttle and proceed to air guitar the intro riff. So thanks for the reminder. do-do-do-dooo, dodododooo.

Can we get CDI support

I had ScummVM setup previously. I have been having trouble getting this to work. I removed the original emulator setup I used and went so far as to remove the platform. When re-adding, I don't get a prompt to install ScummVM. If I go through the old process of Downloading in the add emulator section, it still doesn't start. I've made sure the platform and emulator are both setup to look correct and use the default settings for command line. I even made use the emulator was aimed at the exact folder with the EXE. Is there something special to do if I have a previous setup?
